Closing the Digital Divide

Building a Connection
to a Thriving Future

High-speed networks, access to data and robust computing capabilities are critical assets in the 21st century. The Technology and Data Institute is committed to ensuring the Piedmont Triad has the digital infrastructure it needs so everyone can thrive.

TDI Launches Borderless Classroom Program

TDI in partnership with GCS and Lumos is launching a pilot program through June 2026 to bring free high-speed internet to students who reside in selected service areas of Fairview Elementary, Penn-Griffin School for the Arts, and High Point Central. Students will also receive free access to a wireless service called “eduroam,” that will enable students to access the digital tools available in the classroom while at home, on school buses, and within selected community centers.

About Us

Building an electrical grid was essential for North Carolina’s industrialization in the first half of the 20th century. Now and into the future, high-speed digital networks, powerful computing systems and access to data will be crucial for our region’s prosperity and quality of life…

Collaborate With Us

In the future, when people look back upon our community at this time, what will they see? Will they conclude that we missed opportunities and failed to take action? Or will they see that we banded together to make the forward-looking investments required to build a prosperous Piedmont Triad?
